ZESCO Ndola Girls Open CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifier Campaign Against Herentals Queens
Zambia’s ZESCO Ndola Girls will begin their CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifier campaign against Zimbabwean side Herentals Queens when the regional tournament gets underway in Gaborone, Botswana, on August 20.
The eight-team competition will run from August 20 to 29, with all matches taking place at GU Stadium as clubs battle for regional honours and a place in the next stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
ZESCO Ndola Girls have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Gaborone United, Herentals Queens and Lesotho Defence Force Ladies.
The Zambian champions will open their campaign on Thursday, August 20, with a 12:00 CAT kick-off against Herentals Queens.
They will then face Lesotho Defence Force Ladies on Saturday, August 22, at 12:00 CAT before concluding the group stage against hosts Gaborone United on Monday, August 24, at 15:00 CAT.
The encounter against Gaborone United could prove crucial in determining who progresses from Group A, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals.
Group B features a strong field, with two-time regional champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa joined by Mozambique’s Costa do Sol, Malawi’s Silver Strikers and Eswatini representatives Nsingizini Hotspurs.
The semi-finals will be played on August 27, with the Group B winner facing the Group A runner-up at 12:00 CAT, while the Group A winner will take on the Group B runner-up at 15:00 CAT.
The tournament will conclude on August 29, with the third-place play-off scheduled for 11:00 CAT before the final at 14:00 CAT.
For ZESCO Ndola Girls, the tournament provides an opportunity to represent Zambia on the regional stage and compete for a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
All matches will be played at GU Stadium and broadcast live on FIFA+ and the COSAFA YouTube channel.
